Use Odyssey to search for words and phrases in any file on your computer, or to search for any file on your computer. It's simple to use -- just follow these steps:
  1. First enter the search terms or phrases (or filename) in the "Search for" box.
  2. Next select a main directory and it's subdirectories to be searched.
  3. Then press the Enter key or click on the Find button.
  4. That's it! Files containing your search will be displayed in the lower list box.


Search Options

  • Search for a file containing any word, phrase, or expression.
  • Search for any file using the filename, wildcards, or even an expression.
  • Search using the AND, NOT, and OR boolean operators.
  • Search case sensitive or insensitive.
  • Search any or all directories on any drive -- or exclude subdirectories.
  • Save index of directories to be searched for easy reuse.

    File Types

  • Select file type extension(s) to search.
  • Search any file type, even .exe and .dll files.
  • Open and view files that contain search results.

    After performing your search, you can move or copy selected files to the destination directory of your choice, or delete them (see above screenshot).

    Odyssey is designed to run on any 32 bit version of MS Windows, including Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000, XP and ME.

    Download our trial version of Odyssey free of charge! Yes, we have included some of those nagging registration messages, and you are limited to searching only 2 file types at a time. But if you find the program useful and would like to continue using it, you may purchase a full, unrestricted, nag-free version from Sorcerer Software for $15. You send us a check (please see address at the bottom of this page) and your email address, and we will send you the registration unlocking code. If you wish to purchase the program with your credit card, please contact our credit card processor/affiliate, NorthStar Solutions, online.

    After downloading, run the downloaded file, "odyssy11.exe". You can do this using the Windows Explorer file management applet ("Start->Programs->Windows Explorer") or from the Start button ("Start->Run->Browse"). This program installs the Odyssey program files where they belong and sets up a program icon for your use.
